Sin City 2

Animado pelos rumores de um 2° filme de Sin City (recentemente confirmado) me empolguei e fiz essa "cópia" duma cena de Sin City: A Grande Matança, do Frank Miller, na 4a capa do meu sketchpad no início deste ano.
Eu não consigo chamar de cópia, porque está anos luz atrás do original, mas devo admitir que foi bem xupinhadinho.

Adoro o jeito como o Miller adaptou seu traço para o mundo preto e branco (principalmente na fase inicial de Sin City. Mudou muito desde então e já não me agrada taaanto hoje em dia) e assim criou um novo traço, um novo estilo.

Excited by the rumors of a 2nd Sin City movie (recently confirmed) got excited and made this "copy" of a scene from Sin City: The Big Fat Kill, from Frank Miller, in the 4th cover of my sketchpad earlier this year. I can't call it a copy, because is light years behind the original, but I must admit it was "too heavy inspired". 

I love the way Miller adapted his trace to the black and white world (especially in the initial phase of Sin City, so much has changed since then and no longer pleases me sooo much today) and thus created a new trace, a new style in the process.

Árvore que não dá fruto... // Tree that bears no fruit...

...a gente corta?!? E blog que não tem post?

O ano acabou, começou, avançou, já tá quase no meio e continua avançando... mas o blog (e os sketches) não...
Desde 2011 eu desenhei muito pouco e postei menos ainda.

Poderia culpar a "Fotografia", minha nova "amante", já que o número de fotos desde o Natal espanca covardemente o número de sketches (desenho e pintura então, nem entra na conta!). Poderia também dizer que o tempo consumido pelos estudos nesse começo de ano foi dobrado. É verdade. Mas a verdade nua e crua, o fato principal é que desde o começo do ano eu ando almoçando mal.

"Como? Almoçando mal? haha Seu cara-de-pau! Você..."

Calma, calma. Eu explico. A maioria dos meus sketches (e dos posts do blog) são feitos na hora do almoço. Mais precisamente nos 30 ou 40 minutos que sobram depois que eu acabo de comer. E desde o começo do ano dá pra contar nos dedos das mãos quantas vezes eu tive esses minutos disponíveis pra mim. Em parte, porque a correria e o cansaço andam acima da média ultimamente. E em parte porque eu ando adaptando a rotina e os velhos hábitos.

E a conclusão, pra mim, é que eu preciso incluir "almoço" e "desenho/sketch" urgentemente nessa nova rotina. Ou voltar pra velha... pq designer que não desenha, não é designer!

Muito obrigado aos visitantes que continuam prestigiando esse blog "quase-fantasma". Me esforçarei para torná-lo mais "vivo".

...do we cut?!? And blog that has no post?

The last year is over, the new one began, progressed, basically half has gone... but the blog (and the sketches) not...
Since 2011 I drew quite a few times and posted less yet.

I could blame the "Photography", my new "lover", once the number of photos taken since Christmas cowardly beats the number of sketches (drawing and painting are even countless). I could also say that the time consumed by studies in early months of this year was doubled. It's true. But the naked truth, the main fact is that since the beginning of the year I do not have lunch as well.

"What? Bad lunch? hohoho Cynical! You..."

Wait, wait, wait. I can explain. Most of my sketches (and blog posts) are made at lunchtime. More precisely, in the 30 or 40 minutes left over after I finish eating. And since the beginning of the year I can count on my fingers how many times I had these minutes available to me. Partly because the rush and fatigue are really above normal lately. And partly because I've been adapting my routine and some old habits. 

And the conclusion, to me, is that I need to include "lunch" and "drawing/sketching" urgently in this new routine. Or got back to the old routine... because a designer who doesn't draw is no longer a designer!

Thanks a lot to all the visitors who kept honoring this latelly "almost-dead" blog . Now on I'll endeavor to make it more "alive".

O ano acabou, mas os sketches não... Então em janeiro, vou tentar intensificar o ritmo, pra fechar a conta de 2011.
Muito obrigado a todas as visitas, comentários e incentivos o longo dos 20 posts deste ano (o 2o melhor ano do blog).
Este foi um ano que entrou pra minha história tanto pelas alegrias quanto pelas tristezas.
E pra encerrar, um macaco representando os "micos que paguei". Mas bem que poderia ser um sapo (dos muitos "que engoli") rsrs

The year is over, but the sketches not ... So in January, I will try to push the pace, to pay the 2011 debt.

2011 was a year that entered to my history for both, joys and sorrows.
To turn off the lights, one monkey representing the "tamarin I paid". However could well be a frog (from the many "I swallowed") lol

Os últimos meses foram recheados de muito, muito trabalho e pouco desenho. Minha sorte é que tenho um estoque de não publicados pra fechar o ano. Se Dezembro deixar, claro...

Nós erámos uma banda... / We used to be a band...

...chamada IRAAAAA! Mas infelizmente, sabe-se lá por quais motivos, não são mais. Uma pena, pois era uma das minhas bandas de cabeceira.
Este desenho do Nazi e do Edgar é velhinho (uns 10 anos atrás), de quando a amizade e a banda ainda existiam, mas foi feito em cima de uma foto mais antiga ainda (como dá pra ver pela cara do Nazi rsrs).

This drawing of Nazi and Edgar is old (about 10 years ago), when the friendship and the band still existed, but was done over an even older photography (as you can see by Nazi's face LOL).

Começando com Colin Farrell e Ben Affleck (devidamente fantasiado, pra ter mais expressão rsrs) no filme Demolidor de 2003.

Há 3 meses... / 3 months ago,...

...mencionei a perda de pessoas próximas e queridas.
Creio que já me sinto em condições de falar sobre estes dois exemplos de vida: Mônica e Adriana.
A primeira esteve próxima de mim por pouco tempo (relativamente), mas sempre de forma marcante, inesperada e providencial. Foi sempre abnegação e serviço. Bondade e responsabilidade. Generosidade e doçura. Alegria e animação. Música e esperança. Amor e carinho. Sempre.
A segunda foi tudo isso e muito mais. Foi a minha melhor amiga nos últimos 15 anos... metade da minha vida... Foi minha amiga nas horas em que eu não sabia que tinha amigos, nas horas em que não queria ter amigos, nas horas em que tudo que eu mais precisava era um amigo...
Foi culpido em metade dos meus amores. Foi ombro macio ao fim deles também...
Me contaminou com o vírus do magistério, deu propósito à "matraca" que herdei geneticamente... e me ensinou que até o mais falador pode ficar sem palavras.
Prometeu ser minha madrinha de casamento e há de estar lá no dia e hora marcada, de um jeito ou de outro, pois nunca se atrasava pra um compromisso, a menos que estivesse comigo...
Ambas tinham muito em comum, sendo completamente diferentes.
Católicas. Apostólicas. Romanas. Humildes. Abençoadas.
Serão exemplo de vida pra mim, pra nossos amigos em comum e pra todos que as conheceram e que ainda as conhecerão, pois suas histórias serão contadas de geração em geração, assim como são contadas as histórias de heróis.
Agora que me sinto melhor, começo a preparar uma homenagem, e esses são os primeiros rascunhos... feitos com lapis 3B sobre sulfite A5.

...I mentioned the loss of people near and dear.
I guess I'm already comfortable to talk about these two examples of life: Monica and Adriana.
The first one has been closed to me for a short time (relatively), but always in a striking, unexpected and providential way. She was always self-sacrifice and service. Kindness and responsibility. Generosity and kindness. Joy and excitement. Music and hope. Love and affection. Always.
The second one was all about that and more. She was my best friend for the last 15 years ... half of my life... She was my friend at times I didn't realize I had friends, at times that I didn't want to have friends and at times when all I needed most was a friend...
She was pleaded guilty in half of my loves. She was soft shoulder in the end of them as well...
Infected me with the virus of teaching, gave purpose to the "rattle" that I genetically inherited... and taught me that even the most talkative person may be wordless.
She promised to be my wedding's maid of honor and there 'll be at the appointed time and day, one way or another, 'cause she was never late for an appointment, unless she was with me...
They both had much in common, still been completely distinctive.
Catholic. Apostolic. Roman. Humble. Blessed.
Were an example of life for me, for our mutual friends and to everyone who knew and who would know, once their stories will be told from generation to generation, as well as the heroes stories.
Now I feel better about it, I start preparing a tribute, and these are the first drafts ... made with pencil 3B at sulfite A5.

...já que saímos da temática de sketches, aproveito pra postar uma amostra do meu trabalho como designer (nas horas não vagas rsrs) e que muito em breve estará on line num site novo e atualizado (fique atento ao blog e ao twitter pra não perder).
Este poster/banner/cartaz (1001 utilidades!) foi feito pras comemorações de Pentecostes e Corpus Christis na Paróquia de Santo Emídio - Vila Prudente/SP à partir de umas idéias antigas e de um tutorial que vi na internet. O conceito inicial foi: O Espírito Santo (Espírito de Deus) muitas vezes é representado na forma de uma pomba... Bom, a partir disso decidi não "limitá-Lo" a nossa troposfera e tentei imaginá-Lo numa dimensão mais ampla e cósmica...
Basicamente, o trabalho foi manipulação de fotos de estrelas e constelações temperadas com alguns efeitos especiais, tudo no Photoshop ouvindo meu velho cd Binaural do Pearl Jam, especialmente Light Years.
Se você é um dos que estão se perguntando: "quê? hã? como?"
Calma, calma, no próximos dias os sketches voltam, fiquem traquilos... rsrs

...once we left the theme of sketches, I take to post a sample of my work as a designer (in labor hours lol) and that very soon will be online in a new and updated site (stay tuned to the blog and twitter to not lose).
This poster/banner was made for the celebrations of Pentecost and Corpus Christi at the Parochi of St. Emidio - Vila Prudente/SP from an old concept I had in mind and a tutorial I saw on the web. The initial concept was: The Holy Spirit (Spirit of God) is often represented in the form of a dove... Well, from there I decided not to "limit Him" to our troposphere and tried to imagine Him in a wider and cosmic dimension...
Basically, I manipulated photos of stars and constellations and flavored it with some special effects, all in Photoshop while listening to my old cd Binaural of Pearl Jam, especially Light Years.
If you're one of those who are guessing: "What? Huh? How?"
Easy, easy, in the next few days the sketches are back, stay calm... lol

Alguns dizem que os tempos de alta e calma servem pra saborearmos o que aprendemos nos tempos de baixa e desordem... Se for proporcional, previsão de tempo bom pelos próximos anos... sendo bem otimista, claro!
Esta arte foge um pouco da temática do blog, mas representa muito bem o clima que o blogueiro está vivendo, por isso acho que vale o registro. E também serve pra quebrar a rotina... rotina...

Some people say that the times of high and calmness serve to savor what we have learnedin times of low and disorder... If it is proportional, sunny forecast for the next years...being very optimistic, of course!
This escapes a little bit of art topic of blog, but it represents very well the mood that the blogger is living, so I think it's worth the record. And it also serves to break the routine...routine...
